One year. Money back. Actual money, back to your card, not a promo code, not a store credit, not a replacement you did not ask for.
If your tree arrives smaller than we said it would, or it dies within twelve months of the day it landed, we refund what you paid and you keep the tree.
The five things we do not make you do
Most plant guarantees are written to be hard to use. The exclusions are where the margin is. Ours is written to be used, so here is what is absent from it:
| The usual requirement | Ours |
|---|---|
| Photograph the dead plant from three angles | No photographs required. Tell us what happened. We believe you. |
| Register your purchase within 14 days | No registration step. Your order number is the registration. |
| Ship the dead plant back at your cost | Do not send it back. Compost it. If we ever want something returned, we pay the freight and send the label. |
| Accept a replacement, once, and pay its shipping | Refund or replacement, your choice. If you choose the replacement, we pay the shipping. |
| Take a store credit that expires | Money, to your original card, within 7 business days of approval. |
How to use it
Email hello@alreadygrown.com with your order number and one sentence about what went wrong.
That is the entire process. There is no portal, no case number, no tier-one agent who has to escalate it.
What it covers
- Under spec on arrival. Covered from day one, no waiting period. Measure your tree against the "What actually ships" block on the product page: height from the soil line, caliper 6 inches up, container size, root form. If it misses, that is a full refund and you keep the tree. We are not going to send you a stick and a photograph of somebody else's oak.
- Dies within 365 days of delivery. Every live plant in the catalogue, a full year from delivery.
- Arrives damaged or does not arrive. Carrier damage is our fight, not yours.
- Hard goods, 30 days, any reason, return shipping on us.
What it does not cover
Three things, stated up front rather than in a footnote:
- A tree planted outside its stated USDA zone. Every page prints the zones before you buy.
- A tree left in the box more than 5 days. Open the carton the day it lands.
- Acts of God we can both see on the news.
That is the complete list. No lifetime cap. No per-household limit. No "one approved replacement only". No expiring credit code, because there is no credit code.
And no arbitration clause
We do not ask you to waive a jury trial or a class action in order to buy a tree. It is a strange thing to have to advertise, and it is one of the more common clauses in this industry.
Why we can afford to write it this way
Two reasons, and neither is generosity.
We grow the trees. There is no broker margin between you and the field, so a refund costs us a tree and some freight rather than a tree, some freight and somebody else's markup.
The honest spec means we get asked less often. The number one complaint in this industry is "arrives far smaller than the photos." We print the real numbers, we grade against them on the dock, and we ship in the season the tree wants. Most of the reasons people claim a plant guarantee simply do not happen here. A guarantee is only expensive if your product description is a work of fiction.
Put it on your receipt
The Rooted Guarantee is also a $0.00 line item you can add to your cart. It costs nothing and changes nothing about your rights. Every live plant is covered whether you add it or not. It exists because a policy page is something we write and a receipt is something you can hold, with a date on it, in your own records.
